Default The Official "Congratulations, Rafa!" Thread
Very well deserved. Here's hoping that Federer can mount another challenge to regain the spot and that Novak can make a charge of his own.

Congratulations, Rafa!

Very impressive performance tonight to seal the deal. Now it's just a matter of how soon he'll take over the top spot.

Will Rafa feel no pressure tomorrow, and get to #1 even faster?
Or will he relax a bit, and look ahead to the Olympics and the U.S. Open?

It's like he said. He'll party after Davis Cup. There is still a lot of work to do.

This is really hard. It is hard to acknowledge a new number one in the face of Federer's big fat hole that he dug for himself.

But....I'm thrilled for Rafael. He's worked hard....and even if there was a chance that numerically he didnn't add up to number one.....by his performance this season.....he surely deserves the title, that's how much he deserves it.

Congratulations Rafa! This is awesome stuff!

Congratulations to Rafael Nadal.

On August 18th(if not before), he can erase the fact that he is the best ever player to be number 2 without reaching number 1 in is career.

Celebrate, Rafael fans. Well deserved.

I'm a major, major Federer fan and when the threat of Nadal first happened a few years back, I was definitely always against him just because he was Roger's greatest rival.

Rafa has won me over with his absolute force of will and the way that he has never acted in any way other than with complete humility and class.

While I defintely mourn the loss of Federer's #1 rating, I have to stand up and applaud Mr. Nadal, who completely deserves it.

Here's to Rafa.

Ajde Rafa! You've truly earned the title #1 player in the world!

And congratulations to all of Rafa's fans here at TAT. Seeing a fave player reach the highest pinnacles in the sport is the ultimate payoff.

Ditto

But...enjoy the #1 ranking while you can! It won't be too long before it is back in the hands of the Swiss King

Congrats to Rafa! I think he should have at least ten months at the top spot. I hope he enjoys them!

Very well deserved, indeed! A lot of people have overlooked his tremendous achievements just because he has never been ranked as the best player in the world. Now is certainly a time to celebrate everything he has accomplished in his young career.. But as a long-time fan, here's definitely looking forward to a lot more! VAMOS RAFA!!!

THIS is officially the anti-, polar opposite of the "Jelena's #1!" thread. (No one can truly argue about Rafa's being a deserving No. 1.)
