I wish Steffi would play again.

I remember watching her play Elena Likhovtseva a few years back. Very fun.

Likhovtseva has been a stalwart on the WTT the last couple of years. Glad to see her back. I WISH I could see more of the matches, but without TCC I guess I will have to wait for the Final to be shown on Versus.

Mashona Washington is playing right now -- in Philly.

Fabulous, Serena.

You join the Washington team and agree to play four matches for them, but three are on the road?

Gimme a break.

Why do they play a 1-0 OT? Noticed this on a few scores.

It's all about the overall team score in games. If the team ahead doesn't win the last match played, the match on court has to keep going. Theoretically, the team trailing always has a chance to come back that way.

Venus is supposed to be playing here on Wednesday. The Freedom are playing in the parking lot of a mall (King of Prussia), which is a couple of minutes from my house. I was thinking about going, now that my schedule changed and I will be home (and I have never seen Venus in person), but I have a real sense that after today, playing singles and doubles, and then probably sticking around for the Ball tomorrow night, that there's a decent chance she is not here on Wednesday. And I don't feel like spending the money to see Alex Bogomolov and Audra Cohen.

From the WTT website:

Overtime
Overtime eliminates the possibility of the final sets becoming exhibitions. If the team ahead in the cumulative score wins the final game of the last set, then that team is the winner. If, however, the trailing team wins the final set, the match is sent into overtime and continues until, a) the leading team wins one game, or b) the trailing team ties the match score. If the score becomes tied, the match is decided by a Supertiebreaker.

So random. I just sent a book to King of Prussia, PA from my book trading site earlier this week, and thought to myself, what an utterly bizarre name for a city.

I wouldn't count out her appearance just yet. Venus has always been very loyal to Billie Jean on the WTT front.

My hometown is on one side of Valley Forge Park, and King of Prussia is on the other, JJ. It's an interesting community. Many of the key roads in PA intersect there, and as a result, it's probably the biggest commercial/office hub in all of Pennsylvania. The mall is, I believe, the largest amount of retail square footage in the United States (Mall of America in MN is bigger, but that's due to its indoor amusement park and roller coaster).

Yeah, that has been my other thinking on Venus. She is extremely loyal. I know, whatever I decide, the opposite will happen.

Tangent...looking at the weather forecast for London for Sunday does not look promising which means the Men's final could be played on Monday which means the Champions dinner would be Monday night!

I would not count on Venus playing WTT this week either.

I suspect Venus plays WTT for two reasons: 1) loyalty to BJK
and 2) a little "outside coaching" before the USO.

Everytime I see King of Prussia, I'm reminded of Kathy Jordan, former world #5 who resided (resides?) there. She was the only player to ever beat Evert before the SF stage of Wimbledon, and one of a handful of that era to record wins over both Navratilova and Evert.
