Default Davis Cup Zonals
I don't see a thread for the Zonals, so I'll start one here -- They are underway down under, where Danai Udomchoke leads Chris Guccione 76(3) 30 in the first rubber (Thailand vs Australia).

There are live scores and commentary from Oz here:

'Fraid so. Serbia def Australia 4-1 in the World Group Playoffs last September. Losers relegated to Zonal Group I.

Why don't they let Tomic play against Siributwong? He'll probably win, and even if he doesn't, they have other quality players to win the other ties...

By the way, Salmon, I'm offended by your insulting Siributwong, even worse the elder brother! (The younger plays too, I forget his name.) Anyways, here's a reminder of his bellowing ferocity.

Go canada go!

(Is a zonal what they are playing now? Besides the main group I'm kind of of a DC prude.)

Indeed it is, ptmcmahon! There's the World Group, which is playing the quarterfinals this weekend, and then there are three or four "zones", depending on which part of the world your country is in. Australasia has four, Europe three, for instance. Teams can be promoted or relegated from one zone to another, and from zone one to the World Group and vice versa.

See earlier post! They are playing in Dublin too. If I had thought about it I could probably have gone, but I had totally forgotten about it.

It would be a decent win for Ireland if they can pull it out.

Yeah they probably have little to no chance. I didn't even recognize anyone besides Nestor on the team. Dancevic still afraid to show face in public after IW I see
