ROFL
I've seen this word mentioned a few times and I gather it's a TAT joke. What does it mean?

Have you been to The Dumpster? It's quite self-explaining.
Anyhow it refers to the action of posting inappropriate things that would send a normal E rated thread to the Dumpster -home of the R rated threads.

It's ESPN.

It's all a popularity contest. Tiger Woods will win every category that he's nominated in, same thing with Sharapova.

Maybe they are planning a "surprise twist" with the Bryan Brothers, GV. You know, like in "The Crying Game".

Well, y'all know that I loves me some Venus... But, well, it's clear they forgot to watch her early round matches from the 2007 Wimbledon.

Seriously. How does she get nominated for one of the great championship performances of the year (in a category that does not distinguish between sexes), and then fail to get nominated as best female tennis player?

Championship performance will go to Tiger, sans doute. He'll get like 97% of the vote.

Largely because there's a huge degree of recentism in sports reverence.

Too bad the Wimbledon final apparently missed the deadline.

Nascar - shouldn't it be the car that's nominated? Just like horse racing - jockeys don't get all the press for going for the Triple Crown.

International athletes should be C. Ronaldo and Ochoa.

You only say that because it's the only tournament of any substance whatsoever that she can win...

Just wait... When Roadkill is implemented and she is prohibited from doing the fall Asian swing, she'll probably pull an Elena Bovina by getting hit by a bus so she's off the tour for 8 months, her ranking plummets, and she's once again free to play wherever she damn well pleased.

But wasn't it David Beckham who with the aid of a wool sock had the most bulging results this season?

Isn't it amazing what a year or two in LA can do for a guy.

If that had been real....10 seconds of excitement, and Beckham would have had the breakthrough performance of the year!

ROFL

Even Beckham's "breakthough" isn't big enough to send this thread to the dumpster.

Reason I refused to vote in that catergory. I'm not arguing that I think she is, but I cannot believe they felt only 3 players deserved to be named. I guess they threw her in, in a catergory where they felt she would not garner a single vote.

No way Venus wins. While I applaud her 2007 effort as the--ahem--23rd seed, and thoroughly enjoyed her thwumping of the future Female Tennis Player of the Year, I don't think a 4&1 victory over Bartoli in the final is going to impress the average Espy voter.

And doesn't the Espy thread do a good job of Dumpsterizing itself?
