It's looking like Bacon and Eggs, Belgian waffles and strawberries and cream for breakfast at Wimby tomorrow for the Ladies Final.

Yep, you might have to switch out to crepes.

Hmm...

I would have said bacon and eggs, strawberries and cream, crepes, a dozen donuts, a tray of danishes, a half dozen muffins (and I mean those big basketball size ones, not some crummy mini-muffins), a couple of bagels, and a box of Pop-Tarts. For the first course.

Default Grand Slam finals traditions
I don't know if other people are as nutty as my husband and I, but for each grand slam final we try to make a breakfast composed of foods from the countries of the finalists.

Needless to say, we have stocked up on Mueslix over the past 4 years due to Roger Federer.

Now we have to find out what Serbians have for breakfast. We know that we'll be having some Belgian waffles on Saturday.

Does anyone else have some traditions with the Slams.

I just stock up on Lay's (big pouches) and Tropicana OJ. Can't get enough of tv these days. My daughter munches on Hanna Montana 24/7.

I have to wake up ridiculously early (6AM PST, West Coast of US) just to watch the matches. That's effort enough for me without needing a tradition !!

Looks like Serbs have some serious breakfasts.

Breakfast

Breakfast in Serbia is an early but hearty meal. Tea, milk or strong coffee is served, pastries or bread are served with butter, jam, yoghurt, sour cream and cheese, accompanied by bacon, sausages, salami, scrambled eggs and kajmak.
  • Various sorts of (often with cheese, meat... filled) pastries (pogačice, žu-žu, paštete, kifle, perece, buhtle, pletenice, štapići) and especially often:
  • Burek
  • Kačamak (also Cicvara) - a type of polenta
  • Popara
  • Proja(cornbread)
  • Various sandwiches
  • Bread with something:

Louche,

Thanks for the research! My husband will love all of this. Can't make everything here and Belgian waffles! I'll have to scale it down.

I'll be getting the Wonder Pets videos for my son ready in case Fed needs them on Sunday. Of course I'm being optimistic!

Looks like Mueslix, café con leche, sweet rolls and possibly torrijas ( a type of bread pudding in Spain) for Sunday.

Interesting stuff, Louche.

Kačamak?

Down here we call it cornmeal mush and it's considered poor folks country cooking. Call it polenta and it's Italian gourmet.

So you can keep it easy, and just serve Oreos!

I traditionally do this, too. I also traditionally fall asleep on the couch after Roger or Pete takes the first set 6-4 and leads 4-1 in the second, and wake up just in time to see them accepting the trophy.

I can totally relate!! Unfortunately, that's the cost of having a GOAT candidate in your era. At least Nadal made it interesting at Wimbledon last year. But the thrashings are usually so comprehensive (and Pete's game was especially colourless), that your attention does tend to wander.

LOL- it's tough on the WEst Coast. I guess that I'll have to add goat's milk to the breafast menu for Sunday. LOL
