Aafia Siddiqui demands no Jewish jurors

From The Times
January 16, 2010

From news article:
A Pakistani scientist who is the only woman accused of working with the al-Qaeda leadership has demanded that Jews should be excluded from the jury at her trial in New York.

Aafia Siddiqui called for jurors to undergo genetic testing in an outburst in federal court in Manhattan yesterday.

“If they have a Zionist or Israeli background . . . they are all mad at me,” Ms Siddiqui, an American-educated neuroscientist, said. “I have a feeling everyone here is them [sic] — subject to genetic testing. They should be excluded if you want to be fair,” she told the judge.

Prosecutors say that Ms Siddiqui, 37, who has a biology degree from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD from Brandeis University, fled the US in 2003 after marrying an al-Qaeda operative.

.....

Nevertheless, Ms Siddiqui, who wore a white scarf covering her face in court, vowed not to co-operate with the trial. “I’m boycotting the trial, just to let all of you know,” she said. “There’s too many injustices.

“I’m out of this,” she added.

After the judge thanked her, she put her head down on the defence table and went silent as prosecutors flashed a photograph of her face on a television monitor.

“I don’t trust you,” she told the judge at one point before the potential jurors packed the courtroom.

The outburst was the latest of a series of courtroom rants by Ms Siddiqui, who has also tried to fire her lawyers.

Her trial had been delayed for psychiatric tests, but most concluded that she was faking mental illness
. After jury selection is complete, opening arguments will begin on Tuesday.

That's not the way our legal system works. You get a small fixed number of dismissals w/o cause and a small number of dismissals w/ cause. But the cause has to be a legal cause. Racial exclusions are not permitted. She could raise that issue on appeal but I doubt there's a judge in the United States who would listen to it.

If she was smart she would DAFKA want Jewish jurors, as, these days, Jews generally the most likely to bend backwards to give the benefit of the doubt to terrorists.

'Lady Al Qaeda' Aafia Siddiqui convicted of attempted murder

During the trial, she disrupted the proceedings several times with strange outbursts - including claims she could broker peace with the Taliban. {trust every Paki jihadi offers to broker peace with taliban }
she asked that a message be sent to her supporters at home in Pakistan to refrain from violent demonstrations. "Today, a jury has brought Aafia Siddiqui to justice in a court of law for trying to murder American military and law enforcement officers, as well as their Afghan colleagues," said U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. {Hindoo kanspeerajy }

Indians instrumental in bringing 'justice' to Aafia
ISLAMABAD – The US government has reportedly used Indians with malafide intentions and prejudice against Pakistan in order to bring Dr Aafia Siddiqui to ‘justice’.

In the light of events that have surfaced, this newspaper has found that Indian involvement was highly instrumental in the creation and implication of unfounded and malicious charges against Dr Aafia that emerged out of ethnic bias and orthodox intriguing bravado of some individuals from Indian origin.

In one of her recorded statements, Dr Aafia Siddiqui has alleged that one of the interrogators who questioned her during her detention at Bagram Air Base was Indian. ANI cites Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs’ report, which alleges that the Indian interrogator at Bagram was Aafia’s contemporary at MIT and was interested in her research work. “She was repeatedly asked to do similar research for the interrogator countries. Her interrogators in Afghanistan spoke in American accent and Hindi,” the news agency reported in an article in January last year.
