He fought to end Apartheid, which was morally and fundamentally wrong, and for that he is considered a saint. Really he and his party have ruined South Africa, but it's not "polite" to mention it. Did you know that South Africa has the worst AIDS epidemic in the world? Did you know that the current President Zuma, of Nelson Mandela's ANC party, has said that you can take a shower after having sex with someone with HIV to minimize the risk???? Did I mention that this guy has next to no education. This country is in serious trouble.

the problem is that people connect the two conflicts together SA and ISRAEL So what? Now all of we sudden we should respect the views of "that people"? Once Hamas or Abbas will openly declare that their main goal is to fight antisemitism, they can start comparing themselves with Mandela...

Israels enemies make the weirdest comaprisons just to try to bring it down. Compare Israel with nazi Germany, compare Jews with nazis, compare the security wall (which is a victory for the Palistinians, but thats another discussion) with apartheid, calling the Gaza war genocide or even a holocaust etc, etc.

you never saw a single jew blow up a german school bus or massacre innocent germans in their beds . Nope. Actually nothing much happened, resistance wise before and during WW II. A national shame that is. 6 million killed, brought to the slaughter house, without much resistance.

The ANC was not the problem so much as the KGB backing them. Ronnie Kasrils was trained and funded by the KGB and participated in attacks outside of ZA as well. In his own biography he claims this. For instance in 1974 the KGB engineered an ANC lead attack on Zambia which resulted in the massacre of upwards of 12,000 Muslims there. ANC 'shock troops' also lead attacks in Mozambique, Namibia and Angola.

Within ZA the ANC outwardly disavowed violence against whites as a tactic because they understood this would not win them any special favors in the west. However through the late 1970's all of south Africa was embroiled in brush wars. This is the key reason that ZA developed their own nuclear weapons. They planned to use them as a last line of defence on their own soil against attacks from the north east regions. ANC terror squads in the mean time did go after people, mostly other blacks, for cooperating with the police and being paid informants. At least they didn't shoot down commercial airliners and massacre the survivors like their next door neighbors in Zimbabwe (ZIPRA).

Mandela did not defeat Apartheid.... he was just a symbol of it. Apartheid was a horrible racial system and should have been eliminated. However, sometime in the 70s very wrong people got involved in the struggle specifically when Africa became part of the Cold War. Basically the Soviets screwed everything up....

The real tragedy of South Africa is happening today. People are leaving! Everyone sites crime and economy as the #1 reasons.

Apartheid was evil. Apartheid was killing SA but instead of saving it Mandela and his ANC put the final nail in the coffin. Just do research on President Zuma if you have any doubts...
