Default Oppose Advanced Weapons Sales to Pakistan
By the laws of entropy, to prevent the moslem world to gain access to nuclear weapons is impossible in sight due to the constant technological development which in it's time would give small groups the opportunity to cheaply obtain weapons of mass destruction.

The roots of islamic terrorism are a mixture of revanschism, frustration [with authoritarian and corrupt regimes] and high unemployment in these countries. They would most likely not as a whole be able to westernise themselves, and they do not want to westernise themselves.

And the world would look quite boring if everything looked like the USA.

"The AAM-L flies to the vicinity of the target by inertial navigation, then activates its own active radar for terminal homing."

Smart, no emissions until it gets close.
India should also look into runway denial weapons, since F-16s require a good surface to operate from, and have bottom intakes (think "vacuum cleaner") prone to sucking up foreign objects. They'll likely centralize their fighters because of spares and support needs, so find and blow those bases ASAP in a war.

Backshop and support facilities would be rewarding targets since Pakistan isn't likely to buy a robust store of spares.

US fighters sometimes fired radar-guided missiles in Viet Nam, with the expectation that MiGs would select afterburner to evade them. Afterburner leaves a fat thermal signature for Sidewinders to home on. No reason India cannot play the same game with their missile mix.

All public knowledge, just waiting to be applied.
i totally agree. also that missile can also get a datalink via sattellite awac, ground based radar or the SU 30MKI (one of the worlds excellent fighters with the added advantage of ultra long radar) hence delay the activation of its built in radar till the last possible moment, drastically increasing the element of surprise.

as for the runway cratering thing, indi has tasked its short range, rapid reaction missiles for this task, especially the "Prithvi"(earth) series of missiles, which are land/sea/air mobile

also, India has the latest russian air to air IR missiles and also the Israeli Python 4 and 5 missiles.

I don't think the sale makes any difference in balance of power. IAF already bases singaporean F-16-blk 52 squadron in Kalaikunda AFB for this express purpose
