The price of Oil dropped sharply in the months leading up to Israel's strikes on Gaza and I'm wondering whether this Hamas rocket firing was some kind of deliberate ploy to push it back up again.

What pushed oil price up just a little is cut in production by 2mil barrels - agreed by OPEC. The few dollars that the market picked up will not save neither the Saudis or the Iranians - all of whom are screwed.
