If they were teaching their children the use of weapons to join a militia that would be involved in sedition, murder or mayhem coupled with teaching them to hate any particular group of human beings, then you make a good point. However, others may view teaching their sons and daughters how to use firearms as a 'right of passage.' Some in this country have a family history of outdoor recreation involving firearms, fishing poles, hiking/camping, or just plain survival skills like putting together a makeshift shelter (like boy/girl scouts etc.). I see nothing wrong with this especially when the US economy is about to take a major dump. I think that people should know that some of the vegetation that they are walking by in nature is edible as well as how to find water/moisture if needed. Their lives may depend on that knowledge. I personally don't hunt, but I do have guns for personal protection. Since "O" has been elected; guns and ammo have been flying off the shelves. It is the one part of the US economy that is booming. But now I digress. The motives may differ greatly between your examples. Excess exhuberance doesn't necessarily equate to a nefarious motive.

I am going out here on a limb, and I want to emphasize that I am aware that the two can't be compared by any means. But I must mention that I have seen some photos in which gun enthusiasts/NRA members have "dressed up" their children in similar fashion. They were rather proud of it as well. ![]() |
