But of course. Why would a terrorist group with over 3000 members that murders 189 people in one attack and hacks to death 45 people in a church in another be nearly as newsworthy as an attack in Mumbai that involves 10 people where most of them have already been apprehended? Particularly this is true when the first group in question wants to start a theocratic state based on the 10 commandments of the Bible and marches in a cross formation.
Rather than focus on these 3000, we should put a paintbrush to all 1.3 billion Muslims including the 1.3 billion minus 10 that weren't involved in the Mumbai attacks. |

Ok, cleaned up this thread just a bit.
I didn't close this thread out of respect fot the serious issue of violence and war crimes in Africa. Now, this thread will stay on the aforementioned topic, or will be closed. Please refrain from mentioning the IRA or Turkey or India & Pakistan or WWII or jizyah or medieval times or prehistoric times or the big bang times. |

I don't think this is a special trait of western media. The media channels of all nations cover topics that are of interest to their respective clients, and they are not interested in some esoteric conflicts that happen somewhere in the globe (somewhere that the people never heard of and will never visit). The one exception to this rule is, of course, the middle east region and the Arab-Israeli conflict, which seems to get the attention of everybody, probably b/c there are Jewish and Arab/Muslim communities all over the world.
