That's why State should have been decapitated for good and militarized. It was usefully weakened but should be the object of deliberate emasculation. Ironically, Colin Powell did much to restore the State Dept during his tenure. It was innocent, but if I were POTUS I'd (quietly) internally demolish the State Department so it would take decades to recover if it did at all.
Global relationships should be defined by ideology and cemented by military ties. Diplomacy should not be a civilian function because diplomats should be RULED by orders and not allowed to freelance. They should be easy to rule, easy to direct in line with elected Administration goals, and easy to crush if they get out of line. The combination of military and trade relationships in the world matter, Everything else is secondary. "Unfortunately, the US only has one interest in the ME, OIL." Hardly unfortunate. The oil interest can be woven into the fabric of the cultural war. Even a destroyed Middle East can still pump oil, and if Africa is an example it would be eager to sell resources to fund internal warfare. Internal warfare is the only way to slow or defeat the Islamic enemy, and destabilization is a necessary precursor. Israel should define its borders, show backbone, and negate the gestures made by US and other Leftists. That won't hurt destabilization at all, and the sooner Israels enemy neighbors are ravaged by it the better. Their ideal state would be perpetual civil war. |
