Humiliation Shame Revenge blah blah blah ... The kidnapped Marines and Sailors will be forced to apologise on national television to the insecure masses of Iran. Blair and the New Labour autocrats will downplay the whole thing as a misunderstanding and unless eveyone agrees to sanction the bejazus out of the Mullahs Iran will have nukes in about 6 years from now.
FROM IHT.com From news article: Iran accuses Britain of aggression By Alan Cowell - Published: March 24, 2007 London: One day after its forces seized 15 British naval personnel near disputed waters, Iran accused Britain Saturday of "blatant aggression," further ratcheting up diplomatic tensions. Britain demanded "the immediate and safe return" of its personnel. In Tehran, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Mohammad Ali Hosseini, said the Britons  eight sailors and seven Royal Marines  had violated "the sovereign boundaries of other states," the state-run IRNA news agency said, adding that Iran was carrying out "further investigation of the blatant aggression." Britain's Press Association news agency said one of the captured personnel was a woman, but gave no further details. Iranian news agencies said the 15 Britons had been transferred to Tehran, where a senior Iranian military official was quoted as saying they had "confessed to illegal entry into Iran's waters." "The said personnel are being interrogated and have confessed to aggression into the Islamic Republic of Iran waters," General Ali Reza Afshar was quoted as saying by the ISNA semi-official news agency. The incident happened near the disputed Shatt al-Arab waterway along the Iran-Iraq border. In Berlin, Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany, which holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, said, "We demand the release of the British soldiers." He added that he was confident the United Nations Security Council would approve tougher sanctions in the nuclear dispute with Iran. |

I don't know about you but I'm getting worried.
This is a time for Britain to buck up and stand strong! (scroll down a little) ------- But this, is ominous. The Times (UK): Iran ‘to try Britons for espionage’ ------- Israel 0-0 England You'll notice that the BBC likes to kick its own when things are going rough -- about the game the BBC said it was: [ another poor performance for England's Euro 2008 qualifying campaign which stuttered again with a dismal stalemate against Israel in Tel Aviv. ] ^_^ |

We should barricade every Iranian embassy and consulate in the west. They come out and set foot on the sidewalk, round them up and toss them in military prison. Their president canceled his trip to the UN? Good. Tell him if he lands in the US he will be arrested.
Next up cut off as much of their gasoline and food imports as possible. They can starve in the cold and dark. Maybe they can eat uranium. |

Sink the Iranian navy? Can't be all that hard.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...iran/ships.htm The Zodiac type suicide boats are difficult though. A fuel-air burst over their bases would send a strong message. |

I like these accusations of espionnage and stuff. It will be the first time spies went about their business in full uniform.
Article 46 of the Geneva Convention:A member of the armed forces of a Party to the conflict who, on behalf of that Party and in territory controlled by an adverse Party, gathers or attempts to gather information shall not be considered as engaging in espionage if, while so acting, he is in the uniform of his armed forces. |

The Brits will do squat. This is their Embassy 444 days in captivity saga. Blair is weak, he won't do anything and the Iranians will gamble that his replacement will be more conciliatory. They made the mistake that Reagan would let them walk all over them and it was the biggest deep strategy mistake they made. Similarly they are making a strategic blunder not because of what Blair will or won't do but because it will leave Iran in a more isolated position and strategically weaker than before.
