I was involved once with a mosque and while the overwhelming majority of the members were moderate, the mosque was very fundamental. I asked one of my friends why that was. He thought a bit and said, "Well, we can compromise and they can't."
I think that's a significant factor. On the one hand you have people who simply want to make things better and on the other hand you have people who already have the answer and all they want to do is to implement that answer. Remember, once you've kicked in the door then you can do what you want. Well, until the homeowner comes home. |

So we should wait until the atrocities are equivocal with those of Germany, China, Japan, and Rwanda? Didn't we already essentially declare a War on Terror and are currently conducting it? The analogy is laughable, but even when you indulge the idea that Islamic Terrorists are the same as Nazi's........when we went to war against the Nazis, we defeated them. |

Then why don't you wander over to a thread that makes sense to you? You're adding absolutely NOTHING here. Check "The Basement". But I guess I was wrong. Good luck with your post. ![]() |

Well because I thought there might be a discussion as how peace loving people might do a better job of combating extremism, and steps that can be taken to lessen the effectiveness of extremists. Your post sparked my interest, but other than stating the obvious, I thought you might take a position—this might surprise you—I might even agree with. ![]() |

Although the history backing up the author's opinion is pretty much bulletproof, just watch Barry's buddies line up here to shoot this piece down. I'd imagine it was only some of them. In any case, that was only a small part of World War II. I'd imagine it was more about pride and the economy than about jewish extermination. As for how he managed to convince those guys, I suppose it was not too different from the way FDR convinced Americans to carry out Japanese American internment. So we should wait until the atrocities are equivocal with those of Germany, China, Japan, and Rwanda? |
