The following site presents a view by a person not without credentials (the degree of which as noted) of his more than somewhat depressive analysis of where we are, how we got there and where we're going as a society.

Some may look upon this post as "Spam", and some as containing "objectionable" (in respect to their personal views) materials.
It is a long and reflective piece containing factual information as well as
related (reasonable but of course debatable conclusions IMO).
