First of, my condolences to the family and her squad mates. Denmark lost it's first female soldier in Afghanistan yesterday. I don't know why, but personally I seem to get more sad and loose some resolve, when you suddenly see a female name and image, rather than that of a male. Maybe it's a genetic thing, I don't know. I worry that it might cause a high public approval of the war to fall, as we're simply not used to seeing female troops KIA. Of course, the reason we haven't seen it yet is sheer luck, as women in the Danish army can serve in any branch, no limits. Anyways, rest in peace, soldier. |

I guess a proper headline would read "another Danish soldier killed". And yes, in a perfect world it wouldn't be a matter of male vs. female or anything like that. I just find it weird that I get more affected by this particular death than any of the previous ones. |

I'm in no way questioning her presence there, not at all. I want women in every branch and in every military situation, as long as the individual live up to the given requirements. Gender and sexual observance should be a non-issue in every army (wishful thinking, I know). |
