SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - A missing U.S. Army soldier is expected to face federal charges on Thursday after he was arrested with "bomb-making material" in his hotel room near Fort Hood, Texas, a local FBI agent said.
The soldier, Jason Abdo Nassar, was AWOL from Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and was arrested on Wednesday in the city of Killeen, Texas, which is near Fort Hood, said Eric Vasys, FBI special agent in San Antonio. "Whatever threat Mr. Nassar posed yesterday has been eliminated and mitigated, and there was nothing to indicate he was acting with anyone else," said Vasys. Fort Hood was the scene of a deadly shooting by an Army psychiatrist in 2009. Soldier near Fort Hood base arrested with bomb-making materials | Reuters |
