Default Michele Bachmann says she's like a pedophile serial killer.
Um....John Wayne Gacy was from Waterloo. The John Wayne you want is from half a state away, from the land of The Bridges of Madison County.

My buddy was singing her praises on Saturday. He said he saw her on the debate and was really impressed with what she had to say. I asked him several times to give me one example of something she said that impressed him. He said she carried herself well. Again, I asked him to give me an example of one argument she made or one specific plan she has for the country. "She's very passionate and well-spoken."

She doesn't get as flustered as Sarah Palin does, she's a better speaker, but beneath the slicker exterior she's just as flaky and ill-informed, and she will have many similar moments... This is going to be fun... I wonder if Tina Fey can pull off a good Bachmann?

Imagine how entertaining it will be when Palin and Bachmann face off in a debate.

I'd pay to watch that. Moderated by Jon Stewart & Chris Wallace.

I'll be making a bingo chart using a measure of 'how far from reality' their answers will be.

Chris Wallace wouldn't do $h!t. His evil overlords yanked his choke chain for asking the valid and reasonably innocuous question, "Are you a flake?" Of course, he stepped right up and tossed the Teabag salad.

Can you imagine a Romney/Bachmann ticket? It'll be interesting seeing how this goes. As long as Bachmann listens to her advisors, she'll likely go far in the Republican primaries. She may get her facts messed up and makes some wild statements, but with some discipline she could get the nomination. I'm not a fan of her by any stretch, but there's something about Romney that I just don't like (changes his mind in whatever direction the wind is blowing).

It's going to be interesting to hear how she tries to spin the farm subsidies she received. It will be even funnier to hear her supporters regurgitate whatever lie she tells. I think the RNC will keep their distance as 2008 didn't turn out good with palin.

It's almost surreal. It's a bit reminiscent of Reality TV. NJ housewives come to mind.

I point out to Bachmann (and Obama) supporters that they almost have an identical governmental resume when they went into the Presidential campaigns.

Perhaps Adam but Obama was not as history and fact-challenged as Bachmann. (see her gaffes such as Lexington Concord fought in N.H., swine flu under Carter, FEMA internment camps).

Michele Bachmann - at least she's not campaigning in 57 states

...The mistake that Bachmann made is making headlines today, but again, it is not as if she didn't know how many states there are in the US, like when Obama did while campaigning in Oregon in 2008. He stood proudly on stage back then and said: "It is wonderful to be back in Oregon," Obama said. "Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it." This is what the future president of the US said to his potential voters, according to the LA Times.

While people were not sure where the 57 states came from, the closest thing anyone could find to explain his attempt to add on over half a dozen new states, is that he might of been thinking about "Heinz 57." This is the trademark for John Kerry's wife's business and very popular products. Obama's most recent gaffes were not knowing the current date and the name of a fallen soldier he honored. On Obama's trip to England, he signed the Westminster Abbey guest book with the wrong date. He wasn't just a day or two off, which would be understandable due to jet lag, he was three years off.

Then came his biggest verbal mistake so far in his political career, which occurred while he was addressing military personal at Fort Drum just last week. He talked about awarding the Medal of Honor to the only living person in history and then said the soldier's name. As he did this, faces cringed and jaws dropped, because the man he mentioned was a soldier that had died in the line of duty. Obama had presented the Medal of Honor to his parents. This is the kind of fact checking that is inexcusable, mixing up the cowboy actor John Wayne's birth towns is not anything near in comparison to this.

It looks like Bachmann might be heading down the media path that was carved out for Sarah Palin when she became a threat to the White House. As far as this country has come, every once in a while, something like this happens to remind us that although it has come far in words of equality, when it comes down to action, that is a different story. Would Chris Wallace ask Mitt Romney, John McCain, or even the current president if they were a flake? Chances are he wouldn't.

It is sad to say that Bachmann has sealed her own fate by jumping ahead in the polls so quickly. This is the price you have to pay when you are a woman running for the White House in this great country. While Palin's attempt at the vice president's seat saw her family torn apart in the media during the last presidential election, it is too early in Bachmann's campaign to see how this will play out for her. Whether Bachmann is your idea of presidential material or not, she still deserves as much respect as the next guy, literally.

I'm really starting to hate presidential elections, every 4 years it's the same thing - let's focus on some minor hot topic politics issues instead of the candidates political views. Possibly because it's the only thing people are qualified to talk about - including me, while I understand the field in which I work I can't claim to be an expert in everything else.

one of my least favorite things is hearing this 1000 times:
Everyone is giving (insert favorite candidate) such a tough time because of (insert stupid issue), when (insert my least favorite candidate) said (insert other stupid issue) no one made a big deal. There is such a bias against (insert favorite candidate).

other least favorite things include the folks who love their candidate like he is their first born or religious hero and hate the other candidate as if he is Satan himself.

I want to follow the political process because I think it's important and I would like to learn something, but most of the things I'm learning from most news sources both left and right leaning remind me of grade school politics.

Apparently, he meant to say that he had been to 47 of the continental states with 1 left to go.

Come on. In a light-hearted, not-meant-to-stir-the-pot kind of way, you don't remember when that's all Obama supporters had to say? It was embarassing.
