In case you hadn't noticed, the 'Palestinian' terrorists who murdered American citizens and were released as part of the terrorists for Gilad trade are still free. Despite a specific American law that allows for the prosecution of terrorists who murder Americans abroad, Eric Holder, President Obama's Attorney General, has not lifted a finger to extradite any of the released terrorists to the United States. I trust that none of my American readers are surprised.

Possibly this is because they are Jewish Americans.
If you are American only then you get the full Monty. If you are American and Jewish residing in America then you get the "going through the motions" but let's face it you're a Jew. If you are American, Jewish and living in Israel then screw you, you made your bed. Dual citizenship is a great insurance policy untill it comes time to collect. |

If you are American, Jewish and living in Israel then screw you, you made your bed. Basically, farmboy hit the nail in the head. I don't think I've seen more hatred on talkback then those geared towards American Jews who make aliyah (and retain American Citizenship). Never mind that there are also dual American/French citizens, American/Swiss citizens, American/Canadian citizens, and a zillion other Amercian/XYZ citizens. Never mind that out of all the millions of American ex-pats living overseas, the number living in Israel does not even fall in the top ten. Can you guess why all the hatred is geared towards American/Israeli dual citizens? You only have three....

Being American and Jewish living in the states is one thing, but if you go to live in Israel then you have put yourself in harms way due to the political situation there.
I can imagine certain Americans would think this foolish and would protest the use of American resources to support you should you become at risk. I am English and if nationalised Pakistani immigrants decided to go back to Pakistan to join one of their Islamic organisations I would be the first to object to their rescue by Britain if they got in the dung. Israel is the window of the west and very neccessary. Pakistan is a smoldering cesspit and a threat to civilization but, It's all about how you view things and not everyone shares my perspective. |

On the other hand, I wonder how many of these talk backers who complain about dual American/Israeli citizens have a problem with benefiting from our taxes, as we are still (as American citizens) obligated to file every year just like every other American citizen. My guess is their complaining stops there.

My mother travels on an Irish passport. Similarly Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Italy and Slovakia and many many other states have similar citizenship by ancestry laws. So if you travel to South Africa or the Philippines and you get killed the official answer should be "sucks to be you?" In the meantime if you get kidnapped in Egypt the US Secretary of Defense himself will fly out to lavish expensive weapons on your kidnappers in order to effect your release.
Ok seems fair to me. Next American flotilla to Gaza.....sink it and don't rescue the survivors. The "Sucks to be You" rule is in effect. Same thing with those pirates in the Indian Ocean. Ignore it. |
