Ian Tomlinson was a newspaper seller and lifelong Londoner who passed away about a month ago, while walking home from work.
The representative of the IPCC (independent investigator into police corruption) visited the offices of the Guardian with an officer of London police, asking the editor to remove footage of Mr Tomlinson's death and hand it over. It had been captured by a New Yorker in London, and until publication, not aired by the police or government. Until then, the public had been informed that a person had died in the G20 protests, and that there had been missiles thrown by protestors from which the dying man had to be protected by police. Here's what really happened. From the Guardian. |

![]() "Real-time media is changing our world Cheap 'go-anywhere' cameras and phones are challenging the credibility of governments, corporations and the traditional media It was a chance video taken by a New York investment banker that dramatically swung public perceptions of police handling of the G20 protests. Those 41 seconds swiftly exposed apparently incomplete police explanations of how and why Ian Tomlinson died. They alone forced a level of instant accountability from the police about their orders, behaviour and operation." From the Guardian. |

New footage released of London police bashing protesters on the ground with their shields.
You gotta love that "English Professionalism", something that exists only in the minds of idiot Limes who still believe that nonsense. |

From the Guardian, footage of an Englishwoman being arrested and beaten for asking a member of the famous London Police for his badge number, which had been obscured by the officer in question.
Warning: Video is Disturbing They are also having a debate in London about whether they should have badge numbers at all, and many officers do not wish to have their names on their uniforms, something the NYPD have no problem with. There is obviously a problem over there, seriously there must be some awful unprofessionalism in the police force there. Sure makes you want to live in London, doesnt it. ![]() |
