Thanks for the well-wishing, but I grew up having to fight with my hands and other improvised weapons. I have no problem using what I know on an intruder. I'd rather sneak up on the intruder and hit him with a bat (non lethally, of course), and keep him there until the cops arrive.

I find it hard to believe that you want to scare someone out of your house. Afterall, if you are willing to kill; then surely, you at least want the intruder to stay put so that he can be punished for the crime that he committed, no?

I dont have a shot gun, I just have a .40 hand gun and a couple of rifles. I recommened the shotgun because shot will have very little enegy if it were to pass through a wall. In my .40 I have hollow points so they will have very little energy if they pass through a wall.

I can do you one better - experience. I knew burglars growing up; I've had friends try to get me to go with them. Hell, my brother has been locked up for burglary. There are four things you need to know:

1. Most burglars aren't even violent people. All they want are your valuables and to get the hell out of there. A REAL harcore criminal with some balls is going mug you or rob a store.

2. Most burglars are unarmed. They break into homes expecting no one to be there.

3. Even if a burglar IS armed, it's only just in case there's someone home and so that they increase their own chances of safety. No intruder is there to shoot you unless that's the purpose for their intrusion.

5. Even, for the sake of argument, an armed intruder does break into your home with the intent to kill you... you're screwed. He's catching you by suprise when you don't expect it. At this point, it doesn't matter if you have a gun or not.

Your points 3 and 5 (what happened to 4?) are so completely a logic fail as to be ludicrous.

You expect people to rest easy with the knowledge that if the burglar who enters their home tonight is armed he really doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Come on, surely you don’t expect anyone to sit still for that one.

As to your last point….it is very hard to enter a home without making noise. Most burglars are not silent ninjas who can pick locks and walk like a Shaolin monk. They are poorly educated dotes who look for the easiest way to make money. They steal shit.
