Do not eye-ball HM2's Coffee, HM2 has toenail removal kits and he knows how to use them.

I speak in the 3rd person in matters pertaining to my caffeine.
That and the paranoia that one's personal coffee might be a little "tea" flavored when discovered by the wrong individual.

Sugar has no business being present in Coffee and if you put more than 2 creams in there, its a fraking milk shake. Drink it black, like a man.

BTW I do enjoy a cup of Earl Grey in the morning after my cup of Coffee.

"Earl Grey" must be a well-groomed and handsome fellow if you're talking about the "tea" I was referring to! Then again I was a submariner once!

This "tea" comes complete with "bags", one of those little underway "traditions" typical of salty old sailors with nothing better to do with their time.

I wasn't serious about being offended, I'm just pointing out that more often than not, the people you work with are on some kind of drug, that they are perscribed or not doesn't change the fact that their minds are in an altered state one way or another.

The truck driver and his story is being used as a metaphor for the military, there is a little truck driver in all of us :P
I know you weren't serious about being offended - should've put an "lol" at the end I suppose. Well the people I currently work with aren't on any prescription medication and I know I'm not. The only time I am - it might be flexeril or something for back pain that would make me drowsy and I don't take it at work.

I don't have a little or big truck driver in me...I don't think I ever have. But to each his own!

That's Eff'n gross by the way. What the hell is wrong with chiefs? Especialy Submariners?

@ Candy, then you have taken a mind altering drug, and there is indeed a teenytiny Truck Driver in you... with back pain.

I'm only beating this horse because I think American's need to get their heads out of their asses when it comes to "the Drug Problem" in America. We give people hell for what they put in their bodies even though most of them are only hurting themselves and are being relitively responsible. We glamorize Alcohol, a deadly drug, perscribe our kids and servicemembers antidepressents that might drive them to suicide and criminalize THC, a drug with great medical potential that has never killed anyone in the history of the world.

Been watching Pot documentaries again, sorry :P

The person I replied to said that could "open the door" for people who were chaptered for a DUI to come back in and therefore explained that ADA doesn't apply to the military. It applies to the civilian world.

Now do you know how drug use works? I dated someone who at one time got into meth and other ridiculous drugs like that. You don't have to be using it at that moment to be high. If someone is on drugs, whether it be marijuana, meth, coke, etc, if they use it a lot, that stuff stays in the body's system for a long time. So let's say they go on a meth bend over the weekend, or they drink every night, you think that won't affect their body? And are you serious to suggest that people on duty AREN'T doing drugs or drinking? HA! I know plenty of soldiers who would get drunk during the week and show up to formation smelling like alcohol. I had a soldier who decided to take our other spc at the time to get drunk for his birthday on a Tuesday night and I got a 2 am wake up call. So yeah, people get drunk and do drugs while on duty I fully believe that and know it.
and all the stuff i did back before piss tests is still in my system? what about the vapors from making limoncello this weekend? think i'm drunk now? do your research, and find out how long stuff really does stay in the system. it's the stupid things, unfun things that never leave.

Can't say I've always agreed with it, frat boy antics unchecked in my book. Ask any Sub JO that's got a bit drowzy and woken up with a large slab of man-meat about to penetrate their temple. Not sure if that happens as much now, been away from that community more than a decade.

folks i and most folks i knew lived on triple cappos, in sicily. anyone come after our coffee and we'd spill blood in a heartbeat.
and i once told a navy shrink that i was on drugs - caffine and nicotine. and not enough caffine. when asked what that meant, i explained that both were technically legal drugs, and i was so busy i wasn't getting enough coffee. he just stared at me. i then explained to him that i might be crazy, but i sure as heck wasn't stupid.

I guess when you have countless tons of water threatening to implode you, your sailors, a nuclear reactor, and enough warheads to end human existence, you might be entitled to some sophmoric antics.

Having woken up from a nightmare once of being crushed alive in the "coffin-racks", I see you point. Effin hurt when I hit my head on the little racklamp steel too!

i now have va shrinks asking me really stupid questions - 1. does the tv talk to you. and if so, does it tell you to do things? (what in the hell are commericals, and their purpose?). 2. do you hear voices? (i once responded - "no more than any other indian". the shrink just stared at me)

i used to joke with them, when they asked if i'm suicidal. i'd say no, homicidal. damn if i'm killing myself over some asshole. i'd rather take them out. quit doing that when i realized they had no sense of humor.
i mention nothing about guns. tell them it's been so long, i can't remember the last ime i had a drink (this past spring. drank a very nice bottle of pinot), etc

Do you ever think about hurthing yourself?

That's a silly thing to ask, Doc.

Why is that?

Of corse I would never hurt myself.

Thats good.

The Space Dragon that's in control of the Sadow Government running the world via toster stroodle commercials isn't going to defeat itself and since I seem to be the only one who can see the demons that live in peoples' heads, who do the Space Dragon's bidding, I can't go hurting myself, who else will cleanse them with eye stabbing? RIGHT?!?!

More people are killed by people driving while texting than driving drunk. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=9102931
The article is misleading at best...

In the study, drunk drivers were four times more likely to crash than a sober driver; texting drivers were six times more likely to crash than someone who was not texting. After looking at the ACTUAL study linked in the bottom of the article and several different key word searches...I cannot find anything in the study that says anything about drunk driving.

What makes this research a first is that the Utah experiments tracked young drivers and actual crashes, not close calls. SIMULATED crashes from simulated driving not ACTUAL crashes. There is a difference in simulated driving and actual driving...

From the study itself:
Method: Forty participants engaged in both a single task (driving) and a dual task (driving and text messaging) in a high-fidelity driving simulator. 40 people is hardly an accurate or legitimate sample and representation of over 300 million Americans.

Even the study itself says it this:

However, it seems too early to draw conclusions based on this trend because of the relative small sample size. Don't get me wrong...texting takes your eyes off the road, which reduces your reaction time, but so do many other forms of distractions.
