I hate when the fringe gives the rest of us a bad name.

This group is evidently poorly organized; as city officials rightly pointed out, there had been no fewer than two distinct opportunities to raise objections. The ship has sailed. Additionally, why do I have the feeling no one connected with this group actually LIVES on this street, or that this street is not part of any individual member's commute?

Damn Atheists!!!

People died in 9/11, but they were all people who died, not just Christians. Heaven is a specifically Christian place. For the city to come up and say all those heroes are in heaven now, it’s not appropriate.”
City leaders seemed dumbfounded by the atheists’ outrage because no one complained about the sign as it was going through a public approval process. “It’s unfortunate that they didn’t raise this as an issue while it was undergoing its public review either at the community board level or when it came before the City Council on their public agenda,” said Craig Hammerman, the district manager for Brooklyn Community Board 6.
Hammerman told Fox News Radio that the community was “solidly behind this proposal. Not a single person stood up to speak out against it. I think it’s a little late in the process for someone to be bringing this up now.”

First of all, heaven ISN'T a strictly Christian idea...second, they had their chance and said nothing...now they just want to be on TV.

I'm pretty sure the sign doesn't say "all" heroes are in heaven. It says seven heroes doesn't it? Plus if they don't live on or near the street, no one who does live on or near the street has objections AND they had two chances to say something, then they can go f* off.

Our compatriots in NYC need to pick their battles more judiciously.

I'm surprised the black people on White street havent complained about that and the good people on Bad rd haven't jus flat out had a coniption fit, and don't forget about the stoners on High st. This is (i would like to say retarded but im afraid the mentally challenged might think im addressing them) moronic to say the least. Its a flippin' road sign FOR GOD SAKE (yup, i said it, bite me). Drive by it and let it go dude, damn.

Shame, they should have said something before the sign went up. Now they're just coming off as heartless regardless of how right they are.

New York Atheist organizations should have picked their battles more carefully, this just isn't worth it.

My opinion is that if they REALLY thought this was a battle worth waging, they had every opportunity to object prior to the sign going up. They didn't. Now they are just trying to get their 15 min...

Its a possibility. It pains me to admit this but not all atheists are the scions of moral fortitude that we like to paint ourselves as. Some idiot thought this was a battle worth fighting now FAU... I mean "FOX" News is on their asses portraying them as heartless bastards. Which is a fare assessment all things considered. Who really cares if the sign has "Heaven" in it? We use fanciful language all the time regardless of beliefs or disbeliefs. The only way I can even imagin that the sign is truely offensive is if those being remembered were atheists or of some heavenless religion.

Is the sign going against their religion? Is it like a Christian living on Hell street? Or Muslim on Pigs Lane? Funny that some people just can't let things that don't affect them go. They are missrable, and want others to be just as missrable too.

A POSSIBILITY? It is an absolute fact that they had every opportunity to object before the sign was put up and according to the city, not a single soul voiced a single objection...until AFTER all the meetings were done and the sign was up...

Reading comprehention is a bitch en'it? The possiblity I spoke of was in reference to you're comment that they, the atheist group, is doing this only for "15 min of fame." That is not a fact, that is speculation. I was agreeing with you, you nit wit.
