I remember FISA.. The shameless defense of torture. Federal gag orders. All of it.

And those aren't "Bush's wars" exactly.. Not at all. They're part of a broad strategy which (now) spans 4 administrations.

There is a (nearly) unbroken line of cronies, puppets and legitimate allies which stretches half way round the globe.. The three holes in that line are our two current theaters + Iran.

It's not a coincidence and it didn't start with Bush. It began with GHWB, continued through Clinton and once the world's 4th largest army was reduced to junk in the desert and the sanctions killed up to a million people (But never cost Saddam a meal) Dubya did the actual invading..

Yeah, there's waste and abuse.. But the Constitutional overreach is as big a problem as the massive, costly bureaucracy which underpins it.

Market economics go out the window when you have DC picking winners and losers in Health Care and Energy, for example.

There's HUGE companies like GE standing by, waiting to be declared "winners" and for their lobby dollars to pay off in the form of a secured, government created and mandated "market" for their "products"

Wall Street too.. They want to get rich trading "credits" that were created with a pen stroke in DC.. Effectively collecting rent from us all... Rather than looking to invest in profitable endeavors and actually assuming the risk associated with that.

A limited, Constitutional Federal government is so constrained as to be boring and unprofitable. It's got no power. It can't really do anything, and that's why they hate it.

In contrast, the States can do nearly anything they wish.. But it's much more effective to just buy the whole ball of wax in DC and be done with it.
