Moderator's note: As this post deals specifically with a report on the debate within the Finnish Church, it has been moved to world events. Within the report, however, there is a great deal of substance that could serve as the occasion for separate threads dealing specifically with doctrinal issues
Some of us will be aware of the confused news on the homosexuality issue which reach us from the Church of Finland. Here is a "A REPORT ON THE HOMOSEXUALITY DEBATE IN THE ORTHODOX CHURCH OF FINLAND http://www.kosmas.fi/PDF-files-velje...009_Autumn.pdf COMPILED IN AUTUMN 2009 AD BY THE BROTHERHOOD OF SAINT KOSMAS OF AITOLIA, JOENSUU FINLAND Brotherhood founded by students and scholars of Orthodox Christian Theology, and other members of Finnish Orthodox Church with the blessing of the Holy Episcopal Synod of the Finnish Orthodox Church, Patriarchate of Constantinople in 2001. |

I will say the same thing as in another forum. This Finnish church is uncanonical and i urge any brethren to seek protection under the canonical Orthodox church in Finland under the russians. The report even finally admits the truth, that their celebration of Pascha with the heterodox has nothing to do with Finnish law but was meant to be temporary, unfortunately deception is common for this organization. They have fallen under the anathema of 1583, and even admit they commune Lutherans.
St. Tikhon granted autonomy to the Finnish church in 1921 and instead of heeding ukase 362, the first thing they did is uncanonically transfer themselves permanently under Patriarch Meletios Metaxakis and asked permission to celebrate with the heterodox. The russian church in Finland is the only canonical Orthodox church in that territory. |

Kosta, the Finnish Orthodox Church is canonical. His Holyness patriarch Meletius granted us autonomy in 1925 alongside with Apostolic Orthodox church of Estonia (which isn't regonized by many orthodox churches). We have canonycally ordained bishops, we have full communion with other churches and His Holyness patriarch Bartolomew is our highest bishop.
"Orthodox rainbow society" and "Community" are only minor groups that aren't seeable in normal church life. The Brotherhood of St. Kosmas is concerned about them, of course. We use the new calendar because Patriarch Meletius told us to do so, our curch didn't asked it. Patriarch had plans that every local church should use te new calendar. But his plans never happened. Prayers for you from Finland, orthodox brothers and sisters. |

Revisionism whether in liturgy or ethics is always biased in favour of those who are doing the revising. In this case, practising homosexuals. Most revisionists break away and set up shop on their own. This option is always open to those who want the trappings of Orthodoxy but whose practises fly in the face of Holy Writ and the Holy Tradition.
