CHINA - She went to the site where her 80 sq m ancestral home stood before it was razed to make way for retail shops. The land was apparently seized illegally.

Ms Peng Shuhua, 37, runs a clinic in Dianjiang county in Chongqing, China.

But following an argument with a worker at the construction site, Ms Peng Shuhua was allegedly pushed into a running cement mixer, Hong Kong newspaper South China Morning Post reported.

She was rushed to Dianjiang County Hospital in a comatose state before being transferred to Chongqing's Xinqiao Hospital on Thursday.

When she awoke from a coma, Ms Peng told her husband what allegedly happened.

She had been arguing with a worker at the site on Monday evening. The worker then called his supervisor. Her husband, Mr Gao Hanjiang, said that after the worker hung up the phone, he told Ms Peng that "she must have been looking to die".

Mr Gao said: " The next thing she knew, she was shoved into the funnel of a mixing machine.

"He crushed her by dumping more rocks and sand into the running machine."

Photos of her lying unconscious were soon uploaded on forums.

They also showed Ms Peng covered in debris and medical personnel trying to save her.
She suffered a broken right arm and nerve damage, which may affect her arm's mobility permanently.

Her lungs were also damaged.

The couple have two girls and a boy, aged between five and 10.

Mr Wang Yuanliang, the deputy chief of Caohui town, where the incident took place, pledged his support. "We have already ordered the construction company to pay 30,000 yuan (S$5,850) to the family."

But Mr Gao claimed that the company hasn't paid the medical bills, nor have they paid them for the property they took over.
