Sunday, Sep 09, 2012 The video of her being assaulted went viral after she posted it on Facebook. Now, the 19-year-old woman claims that the police had ignored the reports filed by her parents. Ms Amanda Fong, who is two months pregnant, said the police had also recorded her statement, but no action was taken. Talking to reporters in Ipoh in the presence of her lawyers, she also said her mother had handed the video of the alleged assault by Ms Fong's husband to the police on Aug 29. But they did not view it. It was only after she lodged a police report on Monday that the police viewed the recording, Ms Fong claimed. She has taken out a restraining order against her husband, Mr Calven Chik, Malay Mail reported. Said Ms Fong: "Now that the police are helping me, all I want is justice to be served. This is not the first time I have been treated this way. "The assaults have been constant since January. If not for this recording, I would not know how to prove the assaults took place." The police said she may also be charged as Mr Chik had some scratch marks on him, allegedly caused by her. In an interview with online portal Malaysian Digest, Mr Chik, 26, expressed regret and said he was prepared to face the consequences of his actions. He said: "I know that there is no reason or justification for my actions and I cannot defend myself. It was something that I should not have done. I regret it." |
