Default 1,500 more police for South
Another 1,500 border patrol police will be deployed to the troubled far South, according to Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapa, who chairs a committee for strategic mobilisation to solve problems in southern border provinces.

Gen Yutthasak, who is also deputy prime minister for security affairs, expressed confidence that as his committee began to function fully, the problems of southern violence would ease.

The additional 1,500 border patrol police will help the local police in maintaining peace and order in the southernmost provinces.

The committee was also open to any advice and suggestions from all parties, including the opposition, to ensure effectiveness of the problem-solving strategy, he said.

In addition, the air force will join in by sending airplanes for aerial military operations in far South and provide satellite photographs to help the army with operations on the ground, he said.
