Default Another member of gang trafficking 100 kg of heroin arrested in central Vietnam
Police in the central province of Nghe An Saturday have arrested another member of a gang that was caught last month trafficking 10 kilograms of heroin by train.

Tuoi Tre Sunday quoted Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thien, chief of the province drug crimes division, as saying that Nong Thi Ngan, 36, is the seventh suspect to be taken into custody.

The police caught gang members on July 31 in Vinh railway station with the drugs.

They had reportedly brought 100 kilograms of heroin from the Laos border to Vinh, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City since the beginning of this year.

Ngan had managed to sell 30 kg, the newspaper said.

Vietnam has some of the world’s toughest drug laws. Those convicted of smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kilograms of meth potentially face the death penalty.
