Default Baby dies in car as mom plays pachinko
KUWANA, JAPAPN - A woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of causing the death of her 5-month-old baby by leaving him alone in a car in the summer heat while she played pachinko.

According to police, 45-year-old Takako Sato allegedly left her son Ryosuke in a car in the parking lot of a pachinko parlor for three hours until about 5:20 pm on Thursday, apparently causing him to die of heat stroke.

The boy was in a baby seat in the backseat and had no signs of injury. The car's air conditioner was turned off, and the parking lot had no roof.

According to the Tsu District Meteorological Observatory, the highest temperature of the day in Kuwana was 32.9 C, recorded at 3:10 pm.

Sato has reportedly admitted to the allegations, saying that she wanted time to herself to think and started playing pachinko at around 2:30 pm.

This is an old story. If it was printed recently, it must be a rehash. Newspapers like to do that.

Pachinko is a very addictive game. Once you start will never stop. Heard its operated by their local yakuza.

Similar, you drop tiny metal balls thru this slot on top that goes thru this "maze". Hopefully some made it to some pre-designated area and you get more tiny metal balls from the bottom. Once you've collected X amount of metal balls you get a "gold" pen which you can exchange for cash in an alley way behind the parlor.

Drifter will know more. I'm just rehashing what I've heard. The idea is to "dissociate" pachinko with gambling, the Japanese way of keeping things up to appearances but able to do it in another way.
