An attempt robbery at a convenient store gone terribly wrong when two gunmen and an
officer duty police officer were shot dead.

The armed robbers arrived at the convenient store on a crowded Brazilian street in Manaus,
Brazil on motorbike in the early evening of 7 August 2012.

One of the gunman got off the bike and walked briskly toward the store, stopping two
shoppers at the store entrance from leaving (one of them happened to be the ill-fated
off-duty police officer).



He then broke into the shop and announced the robbery. He immediately went behind the
cashier counter to scoop up the cash unaware that the off-duty officer was making his move.

The off-duty police officer approached the counter and fired a shot at the robber. He then
dashed out and fire two shots at accomplice waiting on the bike outside.

Unfortunately for him, the first robber was not critically injured and dashed out to escape.
On the way out, he took a shot at the off-duty police officer before trying to escape on foot.

The wounded off-duty officer managed to return fire bringing down the escaping robber
before succumbing to his injuries.

All three died in hospital.
