MALACCA - A 60-year-old taxi driver asked police at an accident scene to cover the body of the dead victim not realising that it was his son.
Ishak Mohd Amin said he saw the uncovered body while passing through a traffic light junction at Cheng Height along the AMJ highway, 15 minutes after the accident at 6.15am. "It was dark then and upon arriving at the stretch, I saw the body with two policemen standing at the scene. "I felt sorry for the victim and asked them to cover the body before leaving the site," he said at the Malacca Hospital mortuary yesterday. Ishak said he was taking passengers from Peringgit to Bukit Rambai and did not realise that his son Mohd Nasiruddin Shah Ishak, 28 had died from head injuries in the accident. He said his daughter Fatimah Zaharah called him to tell him that Mohd Nasiruddin had died in an accident and he realised that the accident was the scene he had passed earlier. Ishak then went back to the scene and was told that the body had been sent to the hospital. "It's really unfortunate for me and my family to lose our eldest son during this Ramadan month," he said. It is learnt that Mohd Nasiruddin, a Malacca Historical City Council employee, was on his way to work when he was rammed by an oncoming 4WD vehicle at the junction. The 4WD vehicle driver, a student, escaped with minor injuries while another car was also damaged in the accident. |
