2 August 2012 | iFang.cn

A desperate emergency rescue
was launched in Henan after a pregnant woman gave birth squatting
above a her toilet. By the time she realised the situation, the baby had already slipped into the sewage
still attached to her umbilical cord.

Initial attempt to pulled the baby out from the umbilical cord failed. Another attempt to use a special
hook to grasp the baby also failed.

Rescue workers had no choice but to rip out the toilet and crack waste pipes to drain off water and
swill. After more than 30 minutes of digging and drilling in the stench they finally managed to retrieve
the newborn alive!

Cleaning and on-site medical inspection shows that the newborn's vital signs are normal.
