Default Major Accident In Shanghai Tunnel
July 22, 2012 5:15 AM Shanghai, China

A major car accident in Shanghai Bund Tunnel left three dead and one person serious injured. A speeding white BMW 3 Series convertible
lost control about 200 meters from the tunnel exit in the direction of South to North Wusong Road. It slammed into the tunnel wall killing two
of its occupants on the spot, leaving the driver and another passenger seriously injured. The injured passenger died while being evacuated to
hospital.

The BMW burst into flame on impact and leaving the car a complete twisted wreck. Due to the fire the whole tunnel was immediately shut down
and evacuated. Firefighters and rescue crew at the scene put out the fire in less than 10 minutes and had to use mechanical extractor to pull out
the survivals and the dead. The tunnel was re-open at 8:30 AM this morning after clearance of wreckage and re-ventilation.

According to police report, all three occupants and the driver were aged between 20-25 year-old. From blood sample and urine analysis of the
driver, police has ruled out drunk driving and drug consumption as cause of accident. They suspect speeding is the main cause while investigation
is continuing.
