Default Illegal firearms dealer arrested
SAMUT PRAKAN - Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly possessing firearms without authority.

The suspect, Mongkol Mikanuch, 30, opened a grocery store in Samut Prakan's Bang Phli district as a front for selling weapons, police said.

The arrest was made following a tip-off by members of the public.

During the arrest, police found in his room a Thompson .45 sub machine gun (unlicenced), a Smith and Wesson .32 revolver (unlicenced), a Taurus .357 revolver (licenced), a Glock .11 pistol (licenced) and a llama .38 automatic pistol (licenced) along with 24 rounds of ammunition.

Mr Mongkol allegedly told police he was hired by "a colonel" to sell the firearms at prices ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 baht each.

The suspect said he received a 10 per cent commission for each weapon he sold. Police are investigating.
