Explosion targets Colombia capital Bogota, 5 dead, 40 injured

In Colombia, 5 people have been confirmed dead after a bomb exploded in the capital Bogota. Around 40 more were injured.
The country’s president says it was an assassination attempt and the target was a former interior minister.

A bomb blast in Northern Bogota injured Colombia’s former Justice minister Fernando Londono and killed five people. Among the
dead are his driver and 2 of his bodyguards. Reports say 40 people were injured as the bomb went off at 11am local time beside
Londono’s armored car.

Michelle Begue said, A couple of hours later and the area has been roped off... you can see the area where the bomb hit the bus and
the cars in the surrounding it where the former minister was driving. He has since been taken to a local hospital where he is receiving
treatment for his injuries.

Police officials have said they will offer a reward of more than 50 thousand dollars for any information given. Family members of the
Colombian former Justice Minister say he had previously received death threats.
