Default How the nation has fallen in love with the dog
By David Wilkes PUBLISHED: 22:02 GMT, 7 May 2012

Remember Pudsey (the dog) and Ashleigh from Britain's Got Talent Show?

Polishing his act looks like a stroll in the park for Pudsey as he shows off the moves that saw him dance into the final of Britain’s Got Talent. As these
pictures show, even on a day off from competing the cute pooch enjoys strutting his stuff - and has plenty more tricks to spare like ‘high-fiving’ his
teenage handler Ashleigh Butler with his paw. But despite all the hundreds of hours of practice and being the favourite to win, Ashleigh still worries
Pudsey could behave like a diva on the big day and scupper his chances.

The whole country (and especially Simon Cowell) has fallen in love with the dancing dog since his first audition on the show - an energetic routine to
the theme tune from the Flintstones during which he pranced about on his back legs, threaded through Ashleigh’s legs and leapt into the air - last
month. The pair then breezed through the semi-final with a 1920s-themed performance inspired by the Oscar winning movie The Artist, which again
saw them play their parts to perfection as the flapper and the yapper. As well as more impressive two-legged walking, at one point this time Pudsey
also appeared to ‘roll’ Ashleigh across the floor with his paws.

It prompted Cowell, who has a well-known penchant for dancing dogs, to declare: ‘This is what I’ve been waiting for all my life... I would love a dog
like that, I really would. Can’t we breed him and I can have the puppies?’ And after Sunday’s semi triumph, Cowell and fellow judge David Walliams -
who described them as ‘like Torvill and Dean, or Rogers and Astaire’ - went up to the pair and gave six year old Pudsey a cuddle and a kiss.
