Default Phillipiines Navy's Confrontation With Chinese Vessels - A Patriotic Move.
The Phillippine Navy's decision to protect its sovereignty is a good move indeed.
Economically-powerful and strong militaristic nations, "should never and must never ever be allowed" by other peace-loving nations to impose it's will on economically weaker nations.
Never ever under-estimate the will and pride of the people and Armed Services of such nations. David was small but managed to down Goliath.
Just because the name of that area is "South China Sea", does not give any nation the birth-right to expand its region of influence and impose its will on the nations that lay claims to certain islands.
This is 2012 and not those days where weaker nations "sent treasures" and accepted becoming vassals to powerful nations in return for protection.
What would happen if India declares that all areas within the Indian Ocean and the Andamans Sea comes under it's region of influence and control?
What will be the scenario if tomorrow Indonesia or Malaysia declares that Singapore or Brunei was once upon a time their territories?
China MUST know that such excuses are frowned upon by the civilised world today.
This is a time of inter-dependence on one another and not an era of "conquests".
As for Phillippines, it would be best to set their house in order too. Too much high-level corruption cases is taking a toll on it's economy and the defence of its own country.
The Phillippines Armed Forces needs modern ships, planes and armaments. Too much of money is filling the wrong pockets.
Perhaps the leaders of the Nation and Armed Forces there should turn back the pages of memory and look at glorious and righteous people with good characters like Jose Rizal and Armilio Arguinaldo.
