![]() The Star/Asia News Network Saturday, Apr 07, 2012 Roadside marriages are being offered by a syndicate to young lovers who have not been given their parents' blessings and men who want to take another wife without the permission of the first spouse. The "10-minute marriages" are being dangled for between RM2,000 and RM5,000, reported Harian Metro. The person behind the racket is said to be a man in his 50s from Kedah, referred to as Tok Ayah by his followers. The syndicate, active in Perak, reportedly advertises their services via the Internet and flyers. "Tok Ayah has several assistants who go from one location to another, and even peddle their services by the roadside," a source from the Perak Islamic Affairs Department (JAIP) told the paper. |
