New Straits Times Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 SUNGAI PETANI - A 60-year-old grandmother died after she suffered a blow to the head with a parang which fractured her skull when a suspected drug addict slashed her head with a parang at her house in Kampung Padang Buloh, Sidam Kiri, near here, today. Ain'shon Abdul Rahman, died on the spot in the 11am killing. She was at home cooking vegetables for lunch when the suspect, with a metre-long parang, pounced on her. There was a huge gash on the back of her head. Her body, sprawled in a pool of blood near the kitchen door, was discovered by a fishmonger who was making his rounds in the village. He immediately contacted the police after making the gruesome find. Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hashim Ali said a 26-year-old youth, a relative of Ain'shon, has been detained in connection with the murder. Checks showed the suspect has several past drug conviction. |
