Default More toll counters for smoother traffic on Malaysia's highways
SUBANG JAYA, Malaysia - Highway concessionaire PLUS Expressways Bhd has advised motorists using the North-South Expressway during the Chinese New Year to check the travel time advisory (TTA).

PLUS managing director Datuk Noorizah Abd Hamid said 1,200 additional toll counters would be opened to cater for the increased traffic of 1.4 million vehicles during the festive period.

"We urge the public to plan their journey based on the TTA as it has proven to be effective in reducing traffic congestion during peak periods."

She said the traffic flow was manageable when 65 per cent of road users used the system during last year's Chinese New Year.

All lanes for reloading electronic payment cards at toll plazas would be closed from Jan 20 to Feb 8 to avoid traffic build-ups.

Motorists travelling along PLUS Expressway who pay by electronic cards, such as Touch 'n' Go cards, can get 10 per cent rebates on Jan 19, 23 and 27.

Meanwhile, 80,000 cans and bottles of Red Bull drink will be distributed to PLUS Expressway users at four different lay-by areas -- Behrang, Sungai Bakap, Simpang Renggam and Senawang -- on Jan 20, 21, 28 and 29.
