Immigrants leave Athens Law School



A group of more than 250 illegal immigrants left for their new temporary residence, a rental at Epiros street, early on Friday, accompanied by a group of Greek supporters. The immigrants agreed on Thursday to leave the building of the Athens Law School they had been occupying since Sunday after being threatened with removal by force.

An agreement was reached between the immigrants and the Citizen Protection Ministry late on Thursday night, after prosecutors ordered the immediate evacuation of the Athens Law School, as demanded by the Rector of Athens University. During negotiations, the streets around the Law School remained closed and Swat teams were prepared to break in the occupated premises if needed.
