The drug dealer who had earlier tried to reverse into a policeman in Kepong at 11.15am yesterday, is in critical condition while two other victims from the stall escaped with slight injuries.

One of them was a nine-year-old boy who received outpatient treatment at the Selayang Hospital.

The suspect and the critically injured victims are being treated at the same hospital.

The suspect was earlier involved in a high-speed chase with the police from the Batu Caves roundabout.

City police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said a policeman on patrol near the area had became suspicious of the man who was driving a Perodua Kancil and ordered him to stop.

The man, however, sped off towards Kepong and the policeman asked for back-up.

DCP Zulkifli said three policemen were sent to help in the chase.

The suspect then drove towards PPR Intan Baiduri, Kepong and stopped.

However, when a policeman tried to approach his car, the suspect tried to reverse his car into him.

This forced another policeman to fire a shot which hit the suspect in his neck.

DCP Zulkifli said the suspect then lost control of his car and rammed into the four people.

“The suspect’s car also knocked into several cars during the high-speed chase,” he said.

DCP Zulkifli also said police found seven packets of heroin and several false number plates in the suspect’s car.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had a criminal record for drugs and theft.

“The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder,” he added.
