Thursday December 16, 2010 Cut-up victim died of lung inflammation KUANTAN: The dismembered woman found in a bag near a Chinese temple in Bentong over the weekend died of lung inflammation. State CID chief SAC T. Narenasagaran said there was no criminal element involved. However, police would investigate the case under Section 297 of the Penal Code for treating the remains of the dead with indignity, he added. The section provides a jail term of up to three years and a fine upon conviction. SAC Narenasagaran also said the woman’s identity could not be ascertained as the body had been mutilated. “The police believe the woman was of Indian origin, in her teens and disabled. “Her body was badly cut up,” he told reporters when met after a farewell gathering for former state police chief Datuk Robiah Abdul Ghani at the state police contingent’s headquarters here yesterday. It was reported that a passer-by saw a hand sticking out of a bag found near Chin Swee Cave Temple at Genting Higlands on Saturday. Police were alerted and eventually discovered several body parts stuffed in two bags. |
