Mechanic claims traffic cop beat him up

A 20-year-old mechanic’s outing with his girlfriend left him black and blue after he was allegedly beaten by a traffic policeman in Section 1 Wangsa Maju in Kuala Lumpur. In his report lodged at the Setapak police station, Tamil Nesan reported that S. Karthik claimed the policeman started beating him with a helmet for no apparent reason.

Karthik said despite his girlfriend’s repeated pleas, the policeman continued to hit him on his legs and stomach, and punched his face several times. A passer-by, who claimed to be another police officer, came to his aid and stopped the attack. “The traffic policeman took me to a nearby clinic and paid for my medical bill. “He apologised and said he was feeling tense,’’ said Karthik.
