What's next, another Fugee's reunion?

Hard to believe he can be any worse than some of the past presidents. Was it Duvalier who used to kidnap people and sell their blood to American hospitals?

Hopefully he won't turn into another greedy politician. He's already rich, so hopefully he won't take the food out of any of Haiti's people, if he's even eligible to be elected. Everytime I've heard him talk about Haiti, he always had passion in his voice, so hopefully he won't become just another politician who milks the system.

If he actually cares about Haiti and its people vs commercial interests..he hasn't a chance in hell whether he gets in or not. Last guy that sort of gave a crap had Jean in his name and he was overthrown with the help of proxies from the Dominican Republic and assistance from the U.S.

A singer with years of work for his country?

Only thing worse would be to hire an old actor.

Oh wait.

the last guy cared about commercial interests? seems unlikely, unless they were his. seems like the people not having commercial interests is a huge part of the poverty problem.
plus I like the fugees.

Aristide wasn't exactly a friend to certain business interests particularly it the textile/garment industry. He proposed raising salaries and other improvements for the populace....it was one of the reasons he was pushed out in a soft coup.

There was an Economist article recently that noted that 30% of Haiti's civil service died in the earthquake and 70% of their buildings were destroyed. Honestly, more power to anyone who wants to try running that government.

The late Falco would have been a great Austrian prime minister.

At least Haiti will receive some much-needed international attention if Wyclef runs and (predictably) wins. As messed up as it sounds, the oil spill stole the spotlight. They can use all the help they can get.

I think it would be awesome if he talks like this:
YouTube - ‪SF Real Talk - Wyclef Jean Interview‬‎

"It ain't hard to be a millionaire, homey"

Seriously though, he seems like a good dude who cares about Haiti and kids in general.

His personal finances are a trainwreck. He owes the IRS millions. Even if we assume his good intentions, he may not be the best guy to fix a massively corrupt country like Haiti.

Sean Penn was on Larry King the other night and pretty much lambasted Wyclef. Some questions about the money Wyclef's Haiti's relief effort raised, according to Penn.

Of course, Sean Penn always look pissed off about something, so I take whatever he says with a grain of salt.
