No, that was just the beginning.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes before the current regime falls. And we (the USA) have chosen the correct path for once: the less we've involved, the quicker it will happen.

I hope it comes soon, as a democratic Iran would actually stabilize the region. It's also at the top of my list of places I'd love to go.

Those protesters have guts but the Iranian leaders will not fold easy.

Nope. The Shah's regime didn't fold easily either when the current regime attacked them 30 years ago. But the Iranians are a strong-willed people.

Iran: Stay inside

Iran blocks Internet, warns foreign media - USATODAY.com

Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi threw his support behind the student demonstrations and declared on his website that his movement is alive. "A great nation would not stay silent when some confiscate its vote," said Mousavi, who claims President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stole victory from him by fraud in the presidential election June 12.

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has final say on all state matters, accused the opposition of exposing divisions in the country and creating opportunities for Iran's enemies.

They didn't the last time.

They didn't when East Germany finally fell apart.

Population wise it's a young nation, the median age is 27 and that could be a big factor in a shift of power. The U.S. median age is about 10 years older. With the Internet, going to school in the west and high unemployment the people who are protesting know what they are missing. True or not they feel that their vote did not count and a change could happen sooner than later.
The younger people in the army may also not be as committed to the existing leaders. Of course I could be 100% and they will all be slaughtered.

Tho, one would have to wonder, if the Tea Party did this, would they be dealt with ?

We had large protests during the Vietnam war and with a few (Kent State) exceptions they were handled rather well. It might be different now with a lot of the protesters being older and the troops young. It would be a way for the troops to insure that there would be money in the SS system when they retired by killing the old. Just kidding.

In addition to all our other crimes, we're apparently blocking the coming on our savior:
