Default Fascinating-and perhaps brilliant-change of strategy in Afghanistan
U.S. Marines in Afghan standoff, 4 die in roadside blast - CNN.com

Most interesting. The US Marines waited out insurgents holed up in a compound-and convinved them to release civilians before they bombed the place. And then-this is really interesting, they did not destroy the place once the civilians left-they are trying to talk out the insurgents.
I have been wondering why the US military has not been pursuing this type of strategy both in Afghanistan and even Iraq. My guess is it will yield great dividends.

Gee, I'd almost swear you are referring to the United Nations.
