Default The Gaza Strip's underground economy
A fascinating look at the tunnels that are part of the conflict involving the Gaza Strip. The photos are from a November 2008 story, before the tensions that erupted into the current conflict.

The tunnels aren't just for Hamas weapons. Cows, TVs and East European prostitutes are among the items that pass through, sometimes bound for Gaza, sometimes bound for Israel itself.

Kinda makes you wonder how many tunnels traverse the U.S.-Mexico border. Somehow I don't think we blow those up when we find 'em...

NPR also ran a story on these tunnels in early December -- before the current round of chaos.
