Rapist teacher to pay victims $662K Sat, Feb 06, 2010

A Taiwanese secondary school teacher, who has been jailed for raping his students, was ordered to pay NT$15mil ($661,500) to five of his victims. Mathematics teacher Sun Jin-shou, 58, was ordered to pay the compensation by a session court in Tainan on Friday after losing the civil suit filed by parents of five victims. The parents had demanded NT$3mil ($1.32mil) for each girl, The Liberty Times reported. In December last year, Sun was sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for raping nine students.

Sun had in his classes propagated the beliefs of reincarnation and karma to his students to make them believe that they have carried the sins from their previous lives. He told them that they would die in a tragedy, contract sexually-transmitted diseases and would not have a happy marriage unless they had sex with him as his sperm had the power to protect them. When the girls agreed, he would bring them to motels and raped them. He also persuaded the girls to let him take their nude photographs, saying that their fortune would change if they presented the photographs to the spirits. After Sun was arrested, police found more than 1,000 nude photographs in his home.
